Situated on the sandy shores of Lac de Carcans, one of the largest natural lakes in France, and only a short 4km cycle away from the Atlantic ocean the UCPA centre in Bombannes was renovated in 2017 and offers a great location for a variety of different water sports.

UCPA Bombannes is located around 1 hour from Bordeaux. The Closest town to the UCPA centre is Maubuisson which is about 5 km around the lake and can either be accessed via car or around a 20 minute cycle. Maubuissons offers all the amenities that you would expect from a local seaside town with a cash machine, post office, corner store, news agent and a few Restaurants.​

Nestled in a picturesque pine forest the UCPA centre is situated in an idyllic spot. Enjoy meals al fresco on the newly refurbished terrace that looking over the lake and beach. It's an easy 20 minute cycle in to town with bike rental on site.

All UCPA meals are buffet style and with multiple servings the norm; you won't go hungry.

Breakfast is normally yogurts, cereals, fruit juice, coffee and bread - don't be surprised to see that the coffee and tea is taken in a bowl!

It is possible to return to the centre for lunch everyday where you will find 1 or 2 hot options available. As with all meals there will be a salad bar, plenty of bread, cheese, meat and of course desert. If you prefer you can make a packed lunch at breakfast time and eat on the mountain. Either way you will save a fortune avoiding the piste side restaurants.

Dinner is a 3/4 course buffet - typically a salad bar style starter, a choice of 3 hot main courses, a cheese and cold meat platter and ice cream/dessert.

Due to the cost focussed nature of UCPA and the wide range of dietary requirements, it is impossible to accommodate everyone as standard. If you have any severe dietary requirements please contact the centre two weeks before to let them know. Generally speaking vegetarians will find plenty of options, with vegan options being a little more scarce but improving year on year.

By Air

The nearest airport to UCPA Bombannes is Bordeaux (60km) away. If you arrive on Sunday there may be the possibility to get a UCPA shuttle bus which you will have to check the times directly with the centre before booking your flights as they may only have one a day (phone: +33 556039595). Unfortunately this is not possible on Saturdays. 

You may wish to take a shuttle to Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station where there are more options. Taxis may be available although these usually have to be booked in advance. The Bordeaux Airport website offers some useful information that can help you plan your Journey. 

By Train

The closest train station to UCPA Bombannes is Bordeaux Saint- Jean. This is about 83km away from the centre, so you will either have to get a taxi, hire a car or get the local bus from here. Check out Rome2Rio website for onward travel plans. It may be worth checking with the centre as they do have some shuttles from the station, but not very regularly (phone: +33 556039595).

By Car

It is possible to drive to UCPA Bombannes, there is a good amount of parking at the centre. When you are near your final destination you will start to see lots of signs to ‘UCPA Village Nautique’ which make it easy to find.
