Getting to Tignes

By Air: Although Chambery is the closest airport to Tignes, Geneva is still the most popular airport with more carriers operating offering more regular and affordable flights. There are an increasing number of services to Chambery and you can also fly to Lyon or Grenoble.

A great website to use when planning your trips is Rome to Rio, which gives you lots of options , costs and links to book various travel options: Rome2Rio

Airport Transfers: We offer a variety of airport transfer services with our partner companies from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble. If you would like to use this service please add ‘Airport Transfer’ under travel options on the booking screen. Dates and times for Grenoble transfers, Lyon transfers and Geneva short breaks will be confirmed in September. You will be allocated a place on the correct bus depending on the flight time you provide us with (which, for Geneva transfers, will be at least 1hr after your plane arrives, to allow time to pass through security. Additional Information:

The transfers from Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble have an approximate time of 4hrs, however this may vary significantly depending on weather and traffic conditions. Please be aware that where disruptions are forecast transfers to the airport may depart the resort significantly earlier.

*Please note for shared transfers flights should arrive with plenty of time to pass through security and baggage collection, we estimate that it takes approximately 1 hour to go through the Airport however at peak times this may be significantly longer. Our partners operate on a timetable system and may be unable to alter departure times, customers on delayed flights will be moved where possible to the next available transfer. Customers delayed beyond the last transfer may be placed on the first bus the following morning. For customers on delayed flights to Lyon please contact the airport manager whose number will be found on the e-ticket you received a few days before departure.  Departing flights should allow at least 2 hours from arrival at the airport.

By Coach: Our partner company Snowexpress offers affordable and hassle free transport to the Alps, perfect for avoiding busy airports and peak season air fares!  The coaches travel through the night arriving in resort on Saturday afternoon. The return coach departs resort Saturday evening giving you a full day in resort.

By Train: Unfortunately there is no direct line to Tignes, the closest train station is in Bourg St Maurice which is 30km from resort. You will need to catch a bus or taxi from Bourg St Maurice to Tignes. You can catch a train to Bourg St Maurice directly from the UK or from Geneva airport however the cost of tickets and lack of a direct line may make rail travel awkward.

By Car: Tignes is easily accessible by road although the road leading up to the resort can become quite snowy so snow chains or winter tyres are extremely advisable. The drive from the UK takes about 10 hours and goes through some nice scenery along the way but don’t forget to budget for French toll roads!  There is  a large outdoor parking area directly across from the UCPA. The price is approximately 75 euros for the week. The UCPA address is: UCPA Tignes, Avenue de la Grande Motte, Val Claret, 73321 Tignes. You can view the location on google maps here.

  • No matter how hard you try, when you book everything separately (especially with the Euro and price of food at the moment), you will never beat UCPA.

  • The lift pass is amazing. It didn’t cover just Tignes, but all of Espace Killy. The pass alone was 228 euro if bought on its own.
