Sagres

Situated on the far western tip of Portugal, this area is exposed greatly to the wild elements thrown at it by the Atlantic. Sagres is an excellent location for those who enjoy seeing the power of nature in all its beauty. With excellent surf and wind, this is a great location for surfing and kite surfing, whilst the sheltered beaches also provide an excellent place for relaxing.

Activities

World renowned for its surfing, with many competitions year round and being frequented by some of the world's best surfers, Sagres is a hub for surfing. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are trips here for everyone. The aggressive landscape and wild nature of Sagres makes it a refreshing and popular place for yoga too, at the wind swept cliffs or in the secluded beaches.

Local Town

Sagres is the most southwestern city in Europe, overlooking the aggressive scenery of the Algarve. A typical Portuguese town which attains its nautical culture and heritage, whilst still providing modern amenities. It is a young and lively town, attracting surfers from all over the world.

UCPA Centre

Instead of having a purpose built UCPA centre, in Sagres UCPA use Casa Azul Sagres - a lovely set of apartments with a BnB feel. Located just a few minutes walk away from Praia da Mareta Beach and a few minutes walk away from some nearby bars, the accommodation is well located for being close to the activity spots as well as an evening entertainment. Rooms are 2-3 beds shared between guests (twin and double rooms are available, enquire directly with the centre.)

Testimonials

  • Imagine moules mariniereier, steak (cooked how you like it) and paella just to name a few options during our week and you get a picture of how well fed you will be at UCPA.

  • The food offers great variety, choice (several options each night), quantity (as much as you want) and quality is decent.  Cheese and yoghurts coming out of your ears, packed lunch option, afternoon tea and cake and you can drink your own wine at dinner.

  • I love the system at UCPA where you can go as a group of friends, but still spend a full day out with other people right at your own level.
    Amelia S
  • All UCPAs are very friendly and sociable. The bar and dining areas are open with big tables, encouraging people to sit together and get to know each other. This makes it very easy as a solo traveller.

  • Having never used UCPA before I was not sure what to expect but the week I spent there was absolutely fantastic and I genuinely can’t wait to go back.

  • The quality of the equipment is second to none and the ability to easily swap things over if they’re not quite right is so useful.

  • There isn’t a part of UCPA that I don’t enjoy, it’s some of the best holidays I’ve had and going to have.

  • The food is great and there is tons of it from breakfast, lunch, snack time (after your day on the slopes) and dinner in the evening. My favourite meal this year was on the Thursday evening when it was...
