Dakhla

Situated on the Moroccan coast, Dakhla has a wide variety to offer as a destination. Rich in culture and history, unique in its location and landscape, along with its reliable wind, this is an excellent place to go for experiencing it all.

It's the perfect destination for those that don't want to travel too far from Europe and get away from the crowds. All year round you can see dolphins and even orcas swimming in Dakhla lagoon.

Activities

Famous for it's kitesurfing and wind based sports, the centre in Dakhla specialises in kitesurfing.

Dakhla is an ideal destination for all levels of kitesurfers with more than 330 windy days a year. The lagoon is surrounded by stunning deserts and you may even come across some dolphins and flamingos as you are kiting along.

There are several surf areas; La Sarga, Point d'Or and Foumbouir. Foumbouir being the most famous as it often hosts world surfing and kitesurfing championships. The best time of year for surfing is October to April and luckily for kitesurfers it really is great all year round.

Participants are split into groups based on ability and all are welcome, from complete beginners to experts. You can use your free time throughout the week to explore the town or practise some other sports such as SUP or yoga.

Local Town

UCPA Dakhla is located just a few hundred metres away from the small local airport.

The town is built on the narrow Rio de Oro peninsula, which in turn provides it with great areas for kite surfing, from long beaches to wide lagoons.

Morocco has one of the most diverse cuisines in the world, influenced by so many different countries. Dakhla itself is famous for it's hand picked oyster farming and huge variety of marine delights.

UCPA Centre

Instead of having a purpose built UCPA centre, in Dakhla UCPA use the Hotel Doumss. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk away from the beach and bars in the area. Rooms are 2-3 beds shared between guests (twin and double rooms are available).

  • The food provided was up to a very good standard for all meals with a soup starter available every dinner followed by two or three hot meal choices, a salad bar and a variety of tasty deserts and fruit.

  • The UCPA has its own bar which is slightly cheaper than anywhere else in the resort. It has a pool table, comfy seats and a good atmosphere.

  • UCPAs are like an upmarket hostel. However, they are always comfortable and if you want to meet people, the rooms of 4-6 are a great way of doing so. Even better is most of the UCPAs have some twin rooms...
