Surfing

Surfing courses run on the Carcans beach offering an ideal location for all levels from beginner to experienced surfers. In particular the UCPA spend time at the Crohot des Cavales which is only accessible via cycle paths. The spot has some great waves and is known for its empty beaches.  The UCPA benefit from facilities on the beach including cloakrooms, showers, equipment racks, equipment rinsing, and bicycle storage.

Sailing:

As one of the largest freshwater lakes in France Lac d’Hourtin-Carcans is known for sailing. Gentle winds and zones designated to Catamaran and Windsurfers make this resort an excellent place for beginners and those lacking confidence. More experienced sailors can refine their technique and practise navigation going further out into the lake and exploring all the different areas it has to offer. Whether it is your first time on a Catamaran or you have been sailing for years expect to discover secluded beaches and enjoy the many picturesque spots that the lake shores have to offer.

  • The food is great and there is tons of it from breakfast, lunch, snack time (after your day on the slopes) and dinner in the evening. My favourite meal this year was on the Thursday evening when it was...

  • There is always a range of ages, nationalities, mixtures of solo travellers, couples, groups etc.  We have booked as a group of 6, a group of 36 (no joke) and even just me and my boyfriend – it works for all.

  • The food offers great variety, choice (several options each night), quantity (as much as you want) and quality is decent.  Cheese and yoghurts coming out of your ears, packed lunch option, afternoon tea and cake and you can drink your own wine at dinner.

  • All UCPAs are very friendly and sociable. The bar and dining areas are open with big tables, encouraging people to sit together and get to know each other. This makes it very easy as a solo traveller.

  • Imagine moules mariniereier, steak (cooked how you like it) and paella just to name a few options during our week and you get a picture of how well fed you will be at UCPA.

  • Action Outdoors set up a personal group page and as a group leader, I did’t have to worry about taking everyone’s payments. Each group member is responsible to pay their own way through the group page directly to Action Outdoors. Win!

  • The food provided was up to a very good standard for all meals with a soup starter available every dinner followed by two or three hot meal choices, a salad bar and a variety of tasty deserts and fruit.

  • I love the system at UCPA where you can go as a group of friends, but still spend a full day out with other people right at your own level.
