Not Sure

If you're not sure on how you want to travel yet, then select Own Travel and just let us know at a later date (preferably 2 weeks before travel though, as this is when we book the transfers!)

Travelling to the resort

Once you have selected your resort, course and dates, you will then see a list of the travel options available:

Coach

Every Friday, during the winter season, our coaches depart London Victoria and drive overnight to the Alps.  We are partners with Snow Express thus have arranged the modern, comfortable coaches to drop of at the UCPA centres. Here are some reasons why you should consider going by coach before you rule it out:-

  • Door to Door – we depart central London and go direct to the Alps. One check-in at London does it all.
  • Hassle – you just need to check-in at London, chill out, relax and you end up in the Alps! Compare that with airport chaos & stress.
  • Cost – even if the flight is cheap what about getting to the airport in UK? And getting to resort? And all the “extras” that the airlines charge for? The coach is a single fixed price, point-to-point.
  • Luggage – no luggage limits (within reason!), no charge for skis.
  • Journey Time – Leave London at 1900, arrive in resort sometime late morning to early afternoon. What time would you have to leave home to get a flight & arrive in Chamonix at the same time?
  • Environment – the coach is simply the greenest way to travel – less CO2 emissions than plane, train or car. Fact.

Action Outdoors operates an e-ticket system, you simply need to turn up to Victoria with your booking reference number and your passport. You’ll be given a boarding pass, plus a return ticket. Make sure you keep the return ticket in a safe place – your driver will ask for it on your return.

If the coach travel option is not available on our site, this may simply be because numbers are restricted over the dates chosen or it is the week prior to travel. If this is the case, please book direct on the Snow Express site - www.snowexpress.co.uk.

Please book direct with Snow Express if you only require one way travel or are travelling over multiple weeks.

The return journey time is on your ticket – it varies from resort to resort, but you’ll always have plenty of time to ski on the Saturday, get lunch & travel overnight. We get back into London early Sunday morning.

Flight & Transfer

We have made the decision not to offer flights as part of a package simply because it will work out cheaper for you to source your own flight. This also allows you to select a location and time to suit your own requirements too. Have a look at www.kayak.co.uk for a variety of flight options including Easy Jet, British Airways and Swiss Air.

If you select the transfer option under travel, we will require your flight times (uploaded onto your holiday link) and will then organise a transfer to take you from Geneva to your chosen centre (Les Deux Alpes - Grenoble Airport, Serre Chevalier - Turin Airport). We work with external companies for the transfers but we still expect the service that they provide to be to the standard that you expect. We always aim to provide a trasnfer within 1hr30 of your arrival.

Airport Transfer

With the majority of “low cost” airlines flying into France from acorss the UK, we understand that this is a popular option. The transfer service we offer varies from resort to resort, but allows you the flexibilty of buying your own flight but having the reassurance that you can get from the airport to your resort.

Argentiere, Chamonix & Flaine – Geneva Airport – a minibus shuttle will meet your flight and take you directly to your accommodation. It’s not a private transfer, so sometimes we need to wait a short time for other flights to come in (usually no more than 45 minutes). It is critical that when you book a transfer you tell us the flight number, time of arrival into destination airport (we don't need to know what time you take off) and your mobile number when we request this information (usually about 6 weeks before your holiday).
We’ll send you a text the day before you travel with the name & mobile number of the driver that is picking you up. Flight delays are unfortunately common – we keep an eye on your flight and may reschedule your pick-up. Hence it’s critical we have your flight number and for you to switch your mobile on as soon as you land.
For your return, we text you the day before with a pick-up time, the drivers name & number. Expect your pick up to be about 3-4 hrs before your flight time, allowing sufficient time for the normal traffic & weather delays.
Les Arcs, La Plagne, Tignes & Val d’Isere – Geneva Airport – we will book you a ticket on either our own bus, or the resort bus from Geneva airport. This is a scheduled service and cannot wait for delayed flights. If your flight is delayed then the ticket is valid for the next service – check the times carefully when you book and allow yourself at least 60 mins between landing and the bus time. If your flight is seriously delayed and you miss the last bus then we will try our best to help you find your way to your resort, but you may need to claim the extra costs from either the airline or your travel insurance.
For your return transfer you need to book a seat on the bus that arrives in Geneva at least 3 hrs before for your flight – check carefully when you book your transfer that the details are correct.

Les 2 Alpes - same as above but from Grenoble airport

Serre Chevalier – Turin / Grenoble Airport – We provide transfers from Turin Airport. Due to a limited number of flights into Turin, transfers are not as regular but we still aim to have a transfer ready for you within 1hr30 of you landing. You can alternatively fly into Grenoble and arrange your own trannsfer with The Alpine Transfer Company but please be aware, if the normal road is closed due to snow, the transfer has to take a long alternative route to reach the resort.

Train

From 17 December 2011 to 14 April 2012 you can hop on the Eurostar ski train at St Pancras International or Ashford International and be whisked direct to the resorts of Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne or Bourg-St-Maurice at 186mph.

You will be able to find further details about the snow train and book your ticket at: http://www.eurostar.com/UK/uk/leisure/destinations/direct_services/ski_train.jsp

Own Travel

You are of course welcome to make your own travel arrangements. You’ll find on the resort details pages tips about other travel methods – eg driving or catching the train.

If you know that you are going to arrive late on the Saturday night, then please let us know so we can warn the reception staff.
