Travelling to the resort

We offer several ways to get to your holiday destination. Once you have selected your resort, course and date you will see the travel options available. We strongly believe in transparent pricing - there are no hidden "extras" like check-in, luggage, ticketing costs etc - just one fixed value for money price. For general information select the relevant tab below.

Coach

Every Friday night during the winter season(Except for Christmas day when it leaves on Saturday) our coaches depart London Victoria and run to the Alps.  We are partners with Snow Express, running the ski coach service using modern, comfortable coaches. Here are the reasons why you should consider going by coach:-

  • Door to Door – we depart central London and go direct to the Alps. One check-in at London does it all.
  • Journey Time – Leave London at 1900, arrive in resort sometime late morning to early afternoon. What time would you have to leave home to get a flight & arrive in Chamonix at the same time?
  • Luggage – no luggage limits (within reason!), no charge for skis.
  • Hassle – you just need to check-in at London, chill out, relax and you end up in the Alps! Compare that with airport chaos & stress.
  • Cost – even if the flight is cheap what about getting to the airport in UK? And getting to resort? And all the “extras” that the airlines charge for? The coach is a single fixed price, point-to-point.
  • Environment – the coach is simply the greenest way to travel – less CO2 emissions than plane, train or car. Fact.

Action Outdoors operates an e-ticket system, you simply need to turn up to Victoria with your booking reference number and your passport. You’ll be given a boarding pass, plus a return ticket. Make sure you keep the return ticket in a safe place – your driver will ask for it on your return.

The return journey time is on your ticket – it varies from resort to resort, but you’ll always have plenty time to ski on the Saturday, get lunch & travel overnight. We get back into London early Sunday morning.
Flight & Transfer

On some of our holidays we have a flight and transfer package available. On the whole the flights are charter flights. Prices include check-in, baggage, airport taxes and most of the time skis too. If you book a transfer also you will be met at the destination airport and taken to the resort. The details are all within the holiday page & exact timings confirmed on your joining instructions.

Airport Transfer

With the glut of “low cost” airlines flying into France we offer a transfer service. The type of service we offer varies from resort to resort, but allows you the flexibilty of buying your own flight whilst keeping costs to a minimum.

Argentiere, Chamonix & Flaine – Geneva Airport – a minibus shuttle will meet your flight and take you directly to your accommodation. It’s not a private transfer, so sometimes we need to wait a short time for other flights to come in (usually no more than 45 minutes). It is critical that when you book a transfer you tell us flight number, time of arrival into destination airport (we don't need to know what time you take off) and your mobile number. We’ll send you a text the day before you travel with the name & mobile number of the driver that is picking you up. Flight delays are unfortunately common – we keep an eye on your flight and may reschedule your pick-up. Hence it’s critical we have your flight number and for you to keep your mobile switched on as soon as you land.
For your return we text you the day before with a pick-up time, driver name & number. Expect this to be about 3-4 hrs before your flight time, allowing enough time for normal traffic & weather delays.
Les Arcs, La Plagne, Tignes & Val d’Isere – Geneva Airport – we will book you a ticket on either our own bus, or the resort bus from Geneva to the resort. This is a scheduled service and cannot wait for delayed flights. If your flight is delayed then the ticket is valid for the next departure – check the times carefully when you book and allow yourself at least 60 mins between landing and the bus time. If your flight is seriously delayed and you miss the last bus then we will try our best to help you, but you may need to claim the extra costs from either your airline or travel insurance.
For your return you need to book yourself on a bus that arrives well in time for your flight – check carefully when you book your transfer.

Les 2 Alpes, Serre Chevalier – Chambery / Grenoble Airport – still to be scheduled.

Own Travel

You are of course welcome to make your own arrangements. You’ll find on the resort details pages tips about other travel methods – eg driving or catching the train. If you know that you are going to arrive late on the Saturday night, then please let us know so we can warn the reception staff.
