Singles Ski Holidays for the Individual Traveller

If your friends have other commitments or you all have different abilities then why not try a singles ski holiday? We have lots of solo travellers coming on our trips and it’s a great way to meet new people on and off the piste. Our singles ski holidays offer a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of likeminded individuals in one place for the same reason, to ski!

With no single supplements and a range of evening entertainment available our holidays are perfect for solo travellers. The friendly atmosphere and the communal dining make meeting people as simple as saying hello for groups and singles alike.

So if you’re struggling to organise a ski trip take a look at our singles ski holidays below and make sure you don’t miss out this winter!

Travelling solo?? Action Outdoors and UCPA formula is ideal

 The solo package

Whether you prefer to travel alone, want to improve your skiing prior to a group holiday, are looking for a singles ski holiday with lively Apres Ski or just fancy meeting some new faces, Action Outdoors is a fantastic place to start.

We organise courses for people aged between 18 – 39 (but please contact us if you are above the upper age, centres vary with their age limit) and are finding that more and more people are choosing to book their holidays independently. Solo ski holidays are a chance to work on your own ability without the pressure of your peers. We cater for both skiing and boarding, piste and off piste with our instructors some of the most qualified in France. Lots of our customers travel on their own, and because of the UCPA formula we find that they return again and again.

 All-Inclusive means:

•    Accommodation - No single supplement

•    All meals - breakfast, lunch & dinner

•    Lift pass

•    Ski/Board & boot hire

•    Expert tuition from French Instructors

•    Entertainment

All UCPA centres focus on the parts that really matter. The rooms are clean and warm; the food is fresh and cooked on-site by French Chefs; and there is a full entertainments program making use of each centres social facilities. The multi share rooms; short meal times and large dinning halls allow plenty of opportunity to meet the people you are staying with; creating a lively atmosphere perfect for skiers and boarders travelling alone.

Action Outdoors have allocated a few weeks this season specifically designed for solo travellers, creating the perfect opportunity to meet like minded single people who share the same passion for winter sports. Although we provide a Rep, we acknowledge that people may not want fun and frolics forced upon them. We try to provide an atmosphere where people feel free to join in with the activities or relaxed enough to simply sit and read. We know ourselves how important a holiday is - even within our own office during time off, some will non stop party whilst others just want to concentrate on making fresh tracks. Aimed at those who want to max out their holiday (socially / ski time or both) whilst still enjoying expert ski tuition from UCPA instructors, this could be for you!

23rd December - Christmas in Chamonix!

Christmas in Chamonix - Great snow and even greater festivities!

No Plans yet for the festive period? Why not head out to the Alps for a White Christmas!

Resort - Chamonix is far more of a town than the vast majority of ski villages. It is an all year round resort, with just as many visitors in the summer as winter. It offers a bowling alley, a small movie theatre, an indoor rock climbing gym and plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from with live music being played somewhere every night of the week. More Chamonix resort info here

Chamonix has 5 seperate ski areas all linked up by a regular and efficient bus service. Chamonix is not a ski-in ski-out resort, however the variety of skiing available across the 5 ski areas more than makes up for this. From tree line off piste runs down to Valorcine in Le Tour, to wide open sunny pistes on the South facing slopes of Brevent and Flegere. Les Houches hosts the Kandahar downhill run and the Valley Blanche is a must do off the back of the Aiguille du Midi.

Beginners - there are several dedicated beginners areas such as Planards, which is located in Chamonix town centre, as well as Les Chosalet, which is located right near Les Grands Montets in Argentiere. There are also beginner slopes in all the ski areas (les Houches, Brevent, Flegere).

Intermediates - Le Tour, Flegere and Brevant are greatly enjoyed by intermediate skiers as they offer great blue and red runs - you might find the red runs a bit steeper than reds in other resorts.

Experts - will love the vast off-piste areas of Grands Montets as well as its long and steep pistes. There is a good snowpark at Grand Montets for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Experts will also enjoy some excellent routes on Flegere.

Accomodation - Ucpa Cosmique is situated less than a 3 minute stumble to the lively town centre of Chamonix. The rooms sleep 2, 4 or 6 people and there is a bar plus sports facilities on site. During the week, private buses are laid on providing quick and easy access to the slopes in all 5 of the ski areas.

Nightlife - Chamonix is a thriving and vibrant town with lots going on for après-ski as well as late into the night. Chambre Neuf, The Jeckyll, MBC and La Cantina, to name a few, all host various Happy Hours for you to plan your night around if you fancy a late night socializing. Dancing on tables is a must do on any  night out in the Alps!

21st January - Flaine

January - Flaine

Late January is a great time to ski as it doesn't clash with any school holidays! No queues for lifts, less demand for accommodation and great mid season snow conditions!

With full or half time instruction available; this is a great week to get out on the slopes with others of the same ability. Off-piste instruction is also available for those skiers and boarders of a good ability looking for that extra adventure!

Resort - Flaine is a purpose-built resort (actually won architectural awards for its design many years ago but, being honest, not what some call pleasing on the eye though the skiing more than makes up for it!), with ski-in ski-out access to one of the largest linked ski areas in France - 'Le Grand Massif.’ Le Grand Massif stretches over a network of 122 pistes with enough variety for skiers and snowboarders of all skills and ambition. Flaine resort Info

Beginners - In 2008/09, a brand new ‘Beginners Zone’ was built in Flaine. It is reserved purely for beginners with a large range of sun-blessed green runs, promising the perfect learning environment.

Intermediates - Can navigate the 265kms of groomed pistes linking Flaine to the more traditional villages of Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoens and Sixt Fer à Cheval. There is a great variety of blue and red runs with wide open carving pistes and tree-lined routes along the way.

Experts - Will find many challenges on the steep north-facing mogul runs; or the breath-taking narrow tree-lined gulleys linking into the wider pistes! Flaine also has fantastic off piste skiing amongst the trees and the powder-filled bowls which are easily accessible by lift.

Nightlife - Our favourite bar is the White Pub - which has a daily happy hour and a late night opening...dancing on tables is a regular occurrence at weekends! Visit Flaine Forum for your daily sports fix and If you are up for a late night, then head over to La Cave nightclub which offers free entry and is open until 3am. It is also located in Flaine Forum.
