Port Barcares

With the Tramontane wind meeting the sea breeze, Port Barcarès-Leucate is a renowned place for kite and wind surfing. Perfect for all abilities, it provides a fantastic location for a week improving your air time! Located on the Mediterranean coast near the Spanish border, the resort is both sun and wind sure. Although the centre only caters for a few activities, the Action Outdoors team believed that the opportunity to offer such an ideal location for any enthusiasts (or enthusiastic beginners) was a must!

The centre is only small sleeping 76 people in 4 person ensuite bungalows or purpose built tents. Located on the beach side, the bar looks out across the Salses-Leucate lake and onward to the Pyrenees providing the perfect location for a chilled beer after a hard day at sea.  Nearby there is the longest go karting track in the world for a bit of fun!

The closest airport is Perpignan Rivesaltes, about half an hour away using public transport.

  • Imagine moules mariniereier, steak (cooked how you like it) and paella just to name a few options during our week and you get a picture of how well fed you will be at UCPA.

  • One click and you’ve booked everything. No searching around for lessons, ski-hire etc. And the best thing is you can keep adding people to your group.

  • UCPA is a unique and brilliant experience, I would not describe it as a hotel but also not hostel it is somewhere in-between. Its a place where meeting people and making friends...

  • All UCPAs are very friendly and sociable. The bar and dining areas are open with big tables, encouraging people to sit together and get to know each other. This makes it very easy as a solo traveller.

  • The food offers great variety, choice (several options each night), quantity (as much as you want) and quality is decent.  Cheese and yoghurts coming out of your ears, packed lunch option, afternoon tea and cake and you can drink your own wine at din...

  • The food is great and there is tons of it from breakfast, lunch, snack time (after your day on the slopes) and dinner in the evening. My favourite meal this year was on the Thursday evening when it was...

  • There is always a range of ages, nationalities, mixtures of solo travellers, couples, groups etc.  We have booked as a group of 6, a group of 36 (no joke) and even just me and my boyfriend – it works for all.

  • I love the system at UCPA where you can go as a group of friends, but still spend a full day out with other people right at your own level.
