Val Thorens

Val Thorens - The highest ski resort in Europe, ski in ski out!

Dates and Prices

Resort

Val Thorens, located in the French Alps, is the highest ski resorts in Europe, at 2300 m altitude.  The resort forms part of the 3 vallées linked ski area which, with over 600 km of piste, is the largest linked ski area in the world.

Due to its unique situation, the village of Val Thorens is located right in the heart of the skiing. It doesn’t matter where you stay, the slopes are virtually at your doorstep giving it the luxury of being a ski-in, ski-out resort.  Leave your worries behind, click into your bindings and let yourself go to discover  the advantages of staying at the highest ski village in Europe.

Given the high altitude of Val Thorens and the Glacier de Péclet the resort is often regarded as "snow sure". With the winter season lasting into early May and summer skiing on the glacier. The highest skiable peaks are Pointe du Bouchet (3220m) and Cime de Caron (3200m), with its cable car of the same name, one of the biggest in the world with its capacity of 150+1 passengers.

Many of its slopes face north and north-west, providing for good snow conditions. This means that the slopes are not as sunny, so the resort tends to attract a crowd more interested in skiing than "terracing." However, the resort itself faces south, and many people enjoy sitting outside in the sunshine when they have finished skiing. As well as a combination of 68 marked runs, Val Thorens also 5 terrain parks giving access to bordercross tracks, quarter pipes and jumps.

Town Centre

Val Thoren is situated at the top of the Three Valleys ski resort - the highest in Europe. Its high altitude makes it snow sure and it is less expensive than the renowned Three Valley resorts, Meribel or Courcheval.

Despite being purpose built, Val Thorens is not the 1960’s concrete eyesore that you might expect. It has developed sympathetically to its surroundings and has benefitted from plenty of investment during the last 10 years including state of the art lifts and snow making machinery.

Val Thorens' nightlife is almost as exhausting as its mountain pursuits! With a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes to keep you well fed and watered there is also a plentiful array of opportunities for a bit of après or late-night venues for a spot of clubbing. There are many bars catering for après-ski in Val Thorens. Le Saloon could possibly be Val T’s best après-ski bar for those of you who know how to party in a truly cosmopolitan environment. With a super friendly international team, this bar is a great place to mix.
