UCPA Surf Instruction - 3 Day Break

- Included: 2 Nights Accommodation & All Meals
The Atlantic coast of France is a world-class surfing location and the long sandy beaches of Lacanau's unspoilt coastline are the ideal playground for surfers of all levels. The UCPA Surfing course is organised with the Lacanau Surf Club, just 5 minutes by bicycle from the UCPA centre (bike hire free of charge).
The lessons are arranged into half-day sessions, with the first day being a half day in the afternoon, followed by 2 days each with 2 half day sessions with a break for lunch - either a picnic on the beach or back at UCPA centre for a hot meal / BBQ (depending on time of year!).
The sessions are a combination of practising techniques on the beach (more common in the early sessions) plus instruction in the water. It is common for the instructor to be out in the water coaching you while you take your first waves. It is an exhilarating feeling when the theory all comes together and you are riding the waves into the shore!
Instruction is top level, and progress can be made very quickly if you are determined and fit. It is not the army and of course if you want to have a morning off, or surf with other friends then it’s no problem. All we ask is just let the instructor know so he or she doesn’t have to wait for you.
Bicycles can be hired free of charge to cycle to the Lacanau Surf Club. Rash vests are not provided but are useful to make the wetsuit more comfortable.
Level
This is open for complete beginners to advanced level surfers. Several groups run at the same time, so groups are formed according to abilty. All instructors hold a national Sports Instructor Certificate in Surfing or other specific qualification in surfing and/or bodyboarding. They are all certified by the B.N.S.S.A. (National First Aid and Lifesaving Certificate).
Other Activities
Free of Charge: tennis courts, volley-ball, bicycle hire, stretching classes, petanque
