Surfing

Whether this is your first time on a board or you’re hoping to fine tune your surfing skills, UCPA surf holidays offer courses for all abilities. Based on the Atlantic coast, with kilometres of sandy beaches and consistent swell, both Lacanau and Port d’Albret are recognised spots within the international surfing community.

The majority of people that join UCPA are beginners with the main emphasis to get youcontrolling the board by yourself, understanding the waves and water safety. For those that have done a bit before, there is the option of half time instruction providing tips on how to improve your style. Those that were born to surf, why not try the surf safari and have a guided tour of the local hot spots?

The Atlantic coast of France is a world-class surfing location and the long sandy beaches of the Aquitaine coastline are the ideal playground for surfers of all levels. The UCPA Surfing course is held within a five minute walk away from the centre. The lessons are arranged into half-day sessions, with a break for lunch - either a picnic on the beach or back at UCPA centre for a hot meal / BBQ (depending on time of year!).

Lacanau beachThe sessions are a combination of practising techniques on the beach (more common in the early sessions) plus instruction in the water. It is common for the instructor to be out in the water coaching you while you take your first waves. It is an exhilarating feeling when the theory all comes together and you are riding the waves into the shore!

Instruction is top level, and progress can be made very quickly if you are determined and fit. It is not the army and of course if you want to have a morning off, or surf with other friends then it’s no problem. All we ask is just let the instructor know so he or she doesn’t have to wait for you.

Rash vests are not provided but are useful to make the wetsuit more comfortable.
