Catamaran Sailing - Half time instruction
Catamaran Sailing, or 'Cat Sailing' for short is the fastest, most exciting form of small boat sailing. With a variety of 'Hobie Cats' at the centre you will learn the basics of rigging, launching, tacking, gybing, sailing upwind and sailing downwind. Typically we have light winds in the morning, ideal for learning, then in the afternoon the thermal sea breeze kicks in. The stronger winds are perfect for blasting around, flying a hull and maybe even practising the capsize drill.
Beginners will start with an instructor on-board the cat. As you progress you wll be instructed and coached from one of the many RIBS (Rigid Hulled Inflatable) that the centre has.
Once you have learnt the basics there are mini-cruises and races organised by the team of instructors at the centre.
For those that can already sail, groups will be split according to your ability and instructional techniques given to help improve your skill set.
There are 5 1/2 day sessions under instruction, with one 1/2 day free sailing.
The weather at Hyeres tends to be thermal based, generally quite calm in the mornings then benefiting from a good sea breeze in the afternoon. Check out the details on Windguru here: http://windguru.com
